Words are everything and nothing:
They can be the sound of a voice that sings
or just random scribbling...
For each person, words have a different meaning

Words can be praise,
Words can be invective;
Words can be simple,
Words can be creative;
Words can be trivial,
Words can catalyze change;
Words can be annoying,
Words can be soothing;
Words can be nothing,
Words can be everything:
Words give some things names

What do words mean to me?
They are more than just a language:
They can start and end ages
or simply make or break someone's day
Words keep my thoughts straight
-But most of all, words give names to the meanings I say

Life surprises you! And I'm talking about the good stuff, because a bad surprise is not a surprise at all, it is just shock and horror. All of these good surprises, they are rewards, and the things that happen to remind you that you matter and that you should make yourself faithful so that you can be deserving of all of life's good surprises. Every wonderful surprise in life is a chance to flourish, so grab life by the horns-but don't ride, steer instead: life's horns are life's joystick. You can handle it, because your life's horns are made especially for you. If you don't give up, all of this will hold true and life will continue to surprise you.

A young child I was, once,
and beyond imagination
I wouldn't venture.

My realm, boundless,
free, all-encompassing,
such I cannot describe.

Her words then whispered,
soft across the snow,
words I didn't know, once.

She taught me green and blue,
her eyes made mine new,
Once, when words were dreams,
a realm of imagination.

Meaning of Words #2
She read my love between the lines,
like mirror signs,
dazed highs and mind mines,
reflections of light to her mind,
sights of the blind,
ragged suffocations, love lacerations,
she read my love from a school book,
as easy as 1,2,3 or a fish on a hook.

Words explain action
Words explain interaction
Interaction follows action,
words follow words.

Meaning of Words Thread

"Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste"

Pa point-blanked all English words
So Nana would translate
Later, when she had her stroke
And spoke her own
Broke bass-ackwards baby talk
Then tables turned-

And tongues

-And Pa would make
His pink mouth mealy
With awkward Anglo-
Saxon
Rolling their
Long vowels around
Like loose teeth, then
Spitting up
The way he did with
Spent tobacco.

Step-fathered and schooled
English a fait accompli
Irish a second language
With all that this implied

I grasped, but imperfectly
Some phrases for North’s
Double-edged
Sword
Some words to say unwelcome
Some words to say
I hate.

Grandfather fostered Gaelic
Through sean-nós
Folksong and
Poetry but

At home and school
Native speech was overruled and

I thought and spoke in
English

Well but without love

My Irish lay
Dormant and divisive
Indefinitely buried alive
Inside.

It took travelling and time to teach
That meaning’s more
Than the sum-total of
The tongue used for the telling

And I,
Now less divided
Believe

That truth-

In whole
In raw
However said

Twigs bent to shelter and heal
Ireland in all her

The Power of Words
We seldom think of the words we say
In anger or frustration at the end of the day
And even less, of a casual "love you hon"
As you send your loved one on his way
To a child...a little hug
Gives him confidence to face the day
To a loved one...a gentle kiss
Is all he needs to join the fray

To a child a parent's words
Are always to be believed
But words said in anger
Can never be retrieved
And may lie dormant in his heart
No matter the success he has achieved
It is words that join together
A man and his wife
As they pledge their troth to each other
To be as one for life

We never know just when our words
Will be the last they hear
Was it words of love or anger
That we whispered in their ear
Words are precious things
Weigh them thoughtfully...with care
So they can be remembered
With love...and not despair
