Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner' (1982) has been remastered digitally and rereleased. This DVD rerelease otherwise identical to the original DVD product aside from an improved menu set and a standard plastic case (not paper with a plastic spine as before).
I must say however, it does look good. Also, I'm certain I'm hearing certain music and sounds more vividly. Typically I get a little yawned out while watching the whole film, but when I noticed the remastered rerelease, bought it and brought it home (Target, $19.99) I was drawn in throughout the show. It was the most interested I've been in watching 'Blade Runner', beginning to end, since I first watched it on VHS in a little rented booth in 1985. It's amazing what a simple remastering can do, especially with all of the sensory potential of this film in particular.
I say that this is more than worth the purchase price. Make sure you're getting the remastered version, in the plastic DVD case. It will NOT be in a plastic case with a black plastic spine, as in the case of the original DVD release.
I'll give it five stars for its value, both classic and with the added value of the remastering. *****
