Come come to the dark alleyway, where I tell my tales to the young and afraid, where I redress you as a character who’s life is dangling between here and there, because in my hand I choose to kill or spare.
Welcome mindless, dutiful few, ones without ideas with which to be true. I call you all here to witness the event, for I am your destiny, divinely sent. I am you omega, you last in the queue, the one who speaks softly, and always smiles at you.
I am your friend; I will be here ‘til the end. Each word you say, I don’t let fly away, for all of your fears are embedded in my ears, constantly screaming that you must be dreaming, that this can’t possibly be, that there’s just this to see.
But inside I’m smiling because I know the way. I wait in the smart suit that you keep hidden away. I linger in the room like a smoking cigar, letting you know that I was once here.
My fingers are bony, like iron they freeze, and I’m the one sitting, chilling the breeze. Making the hairs stand alert on your neck, alert to somebody that you cannot see, but know there instinctually.
This is the passage of your life you see, and the door at the end, leads straight to me.
------ Remember my friend, despite all you are, all we are, the universe will tick on, long past our departure.
