Meditation/Altercation
"How are you feeling?"
The loaded questions I ask you,
And I'm certain that you know the deeper meaning
And your answer assures me that you do not.
I discreetly devise double entendres and delicate allusions,
Afraid of offending, but alternately begging you to be blatant.
"What do you think of me?"
Sensuously slipping my words between your lips
Sinister kiss.
Leading questions, begging the answer,
A verbal striptease for an inarticulate mouth.
Assaulting you to assuage my arrogance.
My anger awakening as you avoid the challenge
Convincing myself that you are unlike me--
Unsubtle about the least desired things
Why can't you just cry out your passion for me?
"What do you see when you look at me?"
Debris of body, once alive with meaning?
Cruelly, I accuse you, but I want you
To feel the way that I do!
I see your blood rushing through you,
Your chest rising and falling,
Remember the sound of your heart beating,
Of your rapturous breathing
Like waves crashing against me,
I envision surges of purity within you,
Cleaning me of my histrionic tendencies
Brightening my sallowed shallow skin
In a frozen dawn's hopeful longing
That brings promise of warmth tomorrow,
That brings promise of home forever.
------ She falls softly down from towering pedastools...
