--It's cold and you're warm--
Held tight, trying to stay warm
on side in bed drifting
mostly wide awake sometimes dreaming
eyes dry.
Climb out go pee
come back get under covers
stay warm
don't know where breeze gets into bedroom
it does leaving ears aching.
Still no closer to sleep.
Dig through pile of books by bed
maybe there's one
I've read not too recently
that might bring sleep.
Just don't count on it.
