In it's beginning years, UPN, then on KQCR in my town, Did not focus on Half hour Long shows that had no humor whatsoever. It Focused mainly on Hour Long shows that were either Drama or Action such as Voyager, Sentinel, Deadly Games, and Nowhere Man. While Deadly Games and Nowhere man lasted only for a short period, Sentinel and Voyager lasted the longest of these shows, even when UPN started its crapiness by Switching Carriers over onto KMAX. While The Premise of Sentinel was a bit weak, it had some very good episodes and Plot Development, Even Voyagers first Three seasons were outstanding, but by the fourth season the quality began to deteriorate, and when Jeri Ryan was put on the show, it hit Rock Bottom with only a handful of good episodes in it's last seasons.
Sentinel was Cancelled after three season, and that's when the Half hour shows really started With Things Like Brandy and Homeboys in Outer Space. Albeit Homeboys was Funny, it was very stupid, as was Brandy.
Nowadays, the Only Hour Long shows on UPN are Enterprise, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Special Unit 2 which is getting Replaced by Wolf Lake, Roswell, And Smackdown, which actually Lasts Two hours.
Any Show that is bought by UPN from another Station will be doomed to failure, as this was proven by Roswell. Let us hope Wolf Lake turns out better.
UPN started out Good, but Now someone should put it out of it's misery. The Only thing really, truly keeping it afloat is Enterprise and Smackdown!.
