It’s taken me a while to completely gel my opinion on this matter, but it’s come down to something I long ago realized: it's just a new example and a particularly horrid one.
I can’t say that I’m entirely surprised by what happened in a prison in Iraq.

The point has been made many times in the media that there is a tragedy in the very fact that a torture and murder dungeon under Saddam Hussein has remained the same in American hands. This is how American prisons are run, here, anyway. Is there really a difference between the way these morons behaved and the way that all too many American cops and prison guards behave?

Why is prison-building such a growth industry in America like it is nowhere else in the world? Why are we constantly taking resources from schools and implementing senseless schemes to screw them up simply to advance the newest politicians? Eventually we’ll all be stupid enough that they can put us all in prison!

At least Saddam Hussein didn’t make any bones about the fact that he was a brutal dictator. It was part of the philosophy of his psuedo-socialist secular political party, the Baath party. He was an especially sick megalomaniac who honestly believed his method of government was the best way to rule. Like the kings of medieval Europe and the emperors before them, and like the Presidents of today, he believed that his people existed for him, not the state nor the ruler for his people. One can blame the dictator for doing evil, but at least he is honest about what he is.

George W. Bush… of course, merely a proxy for his father and many other puppetmasters, but visibly the ‘man’ on point (I think you have to be a sentient being to be called a man) certainly does not believe that he or his administration exists for the people. Saddam Hussein would have been a better American, just for being honest about the kind of evil bastard he was. George W. Bush, a true ‘chickenhawk’, with stones the size of cashews, cannot even say that.

It staggers me to realize that Americans watch the things this man does, and watch hard-core Republicans defect from his leadership in recoil – American Republicans! members of the most money-grubbing, inhuman and arrogant party in political history besides the Nazis – and do not cry out for his removal.
Richard M. Nixon had more decency in the tiniest corner of his beady eyes – and infinitely more intellect – than George W. Bush has in his whole person. The fact that Americans lack the self-respect as a nation and as individual people to stand up and demand to be led by more than a sub-sapient puppet-son of a warmongering oilman and his buddy oilman overseer (Cheyney) is too much for the world to take. The nations of the world have recoiled in revulsion from our leaders and they recoil from us, too, people. We’re part of the problem.

Did the German people bear any responsibility for the crimes of Hitler? Certainly. Universally? No.

Do the American people bear any responsibility for the crimes of Bush? Certainly. Universally? No.

There is an American Resistance. Right now we’re still mainly at the intellectual stage. Fortunately, even people on Bush’s side of the Congressional aisle are defecting in loathing just as the American people begin wondering what they have done to themselves in the eyes of the community of the World.

We have virtually completely depleted the massive storage of goodwill that America has built up throughout the world during its sinister strategy of taking trillions and giving millions, while spinning world events with its powerfully manipulative media. We should have been able to bilk the rest of the planet of far more cheap labor and raw materials for many decades yet.

We’ve been so good at it, killing millions of people and justifying it as ‘defending American freedom’, and leaving countries like Viet Nam, which never posed any threat to America under any political system, with millions of acres of land that is still lifeless, and a legacy of countless women and children dead.

We murder and steal. War after war, we fake an incident that gives us an excuse and then rally the people to war through the boss-owned press. This has been going on since before World War I. We learn about these things even in the schoolbook histories. Yet we keep going through the same pattern. Haven’t we come to realize that Hitler didn’t invent the Reichstag Fire?

Doesn’t anyone wonder at all why we never get the other guy’s side of the story? Why can’t I get al-Jazeera on the internet? Who the hell are these Media people to decide what I, obstensibly an American citizen and therefore privy to all the information under the sun, can’t hear what the people on the other side of the issue have to say?

I’m no leader. I’m not at all charismatic and I scare the bejeezus out of visual recording media. However, I’m smart, literate and educated and I know what’s going on. I’m waiting for someone who can really make the best use of me. I’m willing and ready to join up with the most radical leader with the most potentiality to win, because I live under a dictatorship that thrives on the ignorance of the fattest, most apathetic and stupid bastards ever to walk on the surface of this toilet earth: the American People.

I’m disgusted with you, Amerikkka. I’m going to help make it stop.

Before one of you fools tells me to shut up and move somewhere else, I’ll point out that part of my father’s family has lived here thousands of years and ruled the land infinitely more humanely than you. You shut up. And you get out, or pay back the Native People for genocide upon genocide upon theft upon lie.

And then there’s the issue of African Americans and reparations. Before I better understood history, I used to dismiss this demand as crybaby whining. It is NOT! People don’t realize that all the corporations of those days still exist in different forms, and all the wealth generated by free Black labor still exists! America is the richest nation on the earth primarily because of slavery and its free labor, and the bulk of that wealth still sits in the coffers of the current generation of corporate masters today. That wealth enabled America to do all the things it has done throughout the late nineteenth, twentieth and now the twenty-first centuries in order to build its capitalist hegemony!

I must say, the bad karma that America has added up is frightening. I’m glad that I can say that I’m solidly on the Left, because I have a feeling that when we’re all lining up at the end of all of this, it’s going to come down to a question (I don’t care about your interpretation of the Bible):
“What did you do to help the common people of the earth?”

I’m sure there are people who say that Jesus isn’t political enough to ask this.

I think He is.

What Would Jesus Do?

Not wage war for oil, nor to protect an illegal currency like the US Dollar. Not continue racism on every level of society (nor of course any). Not withhold stolen lands nor reparations for 30 million dead.

America is built on lies, murder and theft. It continues to build itself up on lies, murder and theft.

America is going to be destroyed by one force or another, for the crimes of lies, murder and theft.

The only entities that deserve or hold my allegiance are God; the worldwide, diverse Working Class; the creatures of the Earth; the Earth itself, and whoever can lead us in a successful rebellion against these horrible, horrible bastards, no matter how many right-wing pseudo-Christians rush to defend the evil Thing that has kept them powerful and safe from all the repercussions from the things that they do, in Christ’s Name and under the table, where most of their deeds go on.

Burn in Hell, America. I will see you hit the lake of fire powerfully with the weight of your Republifundanazi pharisees and your corporate econo-cannibals.

I always enjoy
I always enjoy your comments and rants and such. I find it funny when people make comparissions to one man's 4 year term in office as a nazi dictator or any dictatorship of any sort. I am not even going to adress your last lines because they hold meaning I don't even think a well educated person like yourself knows.

The comparison holds
Even if Bush doesn't kill as many people as Hitler did, which is of course an unlikely event, he has still murdered thousands of people, including many of our own, for his own profit and privilege.

Those who have supported him, knowing all this evildoing, whoever they may be, will in my belief suffer in any judgment that may occur in a next existence. I spoke of this in their own biblical terms, so they would understand.

And yes, I surely do understand what I said.

but what do you really think
Of course, my sentiments are with you Alienist. I suppose I don't feel quite as leftward as you seem to, but we do have some problems here in the land of liberty. I recall going to Puerta Vallarta several years ago as a lazy_fat_stupid_american and noticing how the policemen rode around in open trucks sporting AR-15's. The local people were very nice and polite, and were obviously not the dissenting type.
I agree with you that there are a lot of things wrong in our country and with our leadership, but as an eternal optimist, albeit a cynical one, I will have to vote for the ideals that we profess to believe in, which are equality, justice, and liberty. Life isn't perfect; God knows our government isn't, and neither are we as individuals; but the ideals are perfect, and we should always strive for them. As for replacing our system or overthrowing it--violent overthrow is the worst possible scenario for any country to go through, and is nothing to hope for or contribute to.
I don't expect to change your opinion about this, because it seems as if you have reached a point. I am only stating mine to you as well. One of the finest things our country allows is the freedom of speech and a dissenting opinion.
Finally, your observation that schools are being wrecked while prisons are being built is seriously true. I have just finished THE RECKONING by Randall Robinson, and he goes into detail about how SODHEXO is contracting with the prison industry AND with universities; an irony at the least. I don't know if you have had a chance to read any of J.T. Gatto's essays on education either. For a teacher of the year recipient, he has some scathing remarks for the public school system also.
It was well written, Alienist, and sincere, if a bit caustic.

prisons and schools
>SODHEXO is contracting with the prison industry >AND with universities; an irony at the least

The same company that runs many Job Corps. locations for the US Government also operates many prisons throughout the country, and they use more or less the same management model.
When I was in the IWW I helped Alexis Bus try to organize the Job Corps. in Jim Thorpe.

Those people are really dirty bastards, these prison management companies. I'm trying to remember the name of that corporation...

As for Penelope, I haven't seen 'Fog of War', but I'll have to put it on my list. I know that poverty isn't just an American thing, but it seems like America is largely the reason for much of the world's poverty. That's a particularly sinful thing. We are the Nexus of War, Poverty, Disease and Famine.

The Four Horsemen are already on the march.

Sins of the father, mother, daughter, son, cousin, et al
I had to laugh at all the moral outrage in the media. So what else is new about prisons everywhere.

During the 2nd World War, Amish conscientious objectors were jailed and tortured because they refused to wear prison garments that had buttons.

Although I agree with a lot of your rant, I don't place the U.S. second behind Nazi Germany. There's several other folks in line ahead of the U.S.A. I can think of some lovely fascist governments in Central & South Amerca. South Africa.

Also, I don't have trouble getting Al Jazeera's web site. I just Googled it up with a click.

Good ranting.

yes...
...but the United States Government made those governments possible, often destroying democratic governments in the process, for the benefit of corporate raiding of labor and materials.

Amerikkka
how painful is the truth...maybe as painful as we need it to be in order to prompt dire needed behavior change!!! some "self-analysis as the 'DOMINANT SOCIETY'!!! lets take a good look at ourselves, whom we collectively claim to be "christian" and recognize who and what we justify, tolerate, and enable!!! this ill, greedy, materialistic, excessive lifestyle that we live! driven mad with desire that is never sated...nothing truthful, nor honorable, nor dignified, nor intelligent, nor compassionate, nor gentle, nor equal here!!! in deflecting blaim and responsibility from ourselves toward others and the 'devil' we remain destracted from our personal social connection and responsibility and our given roles as defenders of our children's OVER ALL WELL BEING (um, derived from our daily EXAMPLE!)much appreciation for pointing out what NEEDS to be referred to~

*Sigh*
It's amazing how ignorance can lead you to such an idea. Look at history at Hitler's rule. He killed millions of Jews and kept them from freedom. George Bush has liberated the Iraqies. If you're asking how, look at their economics. Money is being made, new businesses are opening, and new skills are being learned. How, might I ask is that like Hitler's rule? Saddam killed his people for disagreeing with him. Bush isn't haveing your head cut off for disagreeing with his view. So how is he like Saddam?

AbbyNormal

How?
He might not be murdering Americans, which he'd find hard to get away with in real numbers, but a lot of Iraqis have died that didn't need to; have been tortured and raped; and the only people making money are people like Cheney and Haliburton. If you're only listening to the right-wing press I'll leave it to Michael Moore to show you how it really is when Fahrenheit: 9/11 comes out.

Thousands of innocent people have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. This cannot have been necessary. And Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, as the investigative panel is clearing up for us now.

Many diplomats and politicians and military leaders are now distancing themselves from Bush. Why?

Get some more variety in your sources for news.

yes
i agree with you totally with the similiarism with bush and the nazi party. you should probably know that the bush dynasty is connected to the nazi party in many ways.
also, i feel sad for ignorant american soldiers going to war for oil, i mean peace, and getting caught, only to serve the same horrible torture they serve to protect. its really a shame.
