As A child I knew no better.
I thought responsibility meant being home in
time for dinner.
As A child being a good friend meant sharing my
chocolate.
As A child being a great dancer meant moving to
the sound of the music, hands flaring, eyes
closed and laughter uncontrolled.
As A child I believed being loved meant hugs
and kisses, nothing complicated.
As A child my dad was my hero, stronger than
anyone on earth.
As A child my mom was protector of all things,
bad dreams, cut knees, hurt feelings.
As A child I dreamt that my knight and shining
armor would be strong, steadfast, always interested and always willing.
Now as A woman I know nothing better than to want
to be a child again...
