Greetings all! I hope your holiday season is going well. With it being a short one,
I'm sure you're as rushed for time as I am. I've decided to delay the current issue of
Majestic until the New Year when I've had time to slow down. In the mean time, I have a
few things I'd like to share with you all.
It's been an awesome year for me personally and for Lit.Org. I'm very pleased to have been
able to share a great part of my time with all of you. You are the reason I keep doing this.
Well, that and I really like the sound of my own voice. But you probably figured that out by now!
This past year hasn't been without its ups and downs, though I'm thankful that it has been
more ups. We've had our share of trolls visit Lit.Org and try to stir up trouble. They've
left and returned a few times but we've managed to keep clear of any real trouble. Let's
home next year goes as smooth. Real Life took its toll as well many of us have had to take
short or even long leaves of absence. I'm happy everyone managed to return, even if you don't
get to spend quite as much time as you'd like at Lit.Org.
We've also grown quite a bit. This time last year I launched the new version of Lit.Org and we
were getting anywhere from 10,000 page views a month to 15,000. We've grown now to nearly
80,000 page views a month on our busy months! And the trend shows no signs of slowing down.
Speaking of launching new versions, this year I don't have a new version of Lit.Org for you.
If you were here for last years launch, you know that it was a slight re-design from the 20001
design. This year we don't even have that much change. I've been concentrating hard on features
for the site, which has taken a great deal of programming time. Aside from that, I'm very happy
with the look of the site right now. Though I'm sure there will be some minor cosmetic changes
over the next year.
The real difference this year will be our focus. We are going to be concentrating more on content
rather than features, even if that means features have to get put on the back burner. We have some
very cool things planned including a new "reader centric" page designed to bring writers together
with great writing and help showcase some of the best writings from Lit.Org and around the web. We
have also been promising for far too long to publish a Lit.Org anthology. I finally feel we are in
the right place to do that and I'm looking for a publisher right now! We will publish two, a poetry
collection and a short story collection, so get to writing. I'm also planning on writing my first
Novel next year and will do so as part of the National Novel Writing Month (Nov 1 - 30) where you
have 30 days to finish 50,000 words! I hope some of you participate as well. I know you have the talent.
And this is just the beginning. We have so much to look forward too and I hope you are all around to
see it. Tell your friends so they don't miss out.
I'm glad you all have been here for what has been a great bit of fun so far. I hope you plan to stick
around and see where this thing leads us. Thank you to all of you who've taken the time to submit your
hard work to the site giving thousands of people something great to read. Thanks to all the staff members
who volunteer their time to make sure things run smoothly and that no one ruins the fun for the rest of us.
And a very special thanks to those of you who've donated to Lit.Org, you've helped in a very real way. I'm
honored to serve such a great bunch of people!
Happy Holidays to all of you. I'll see you next year!
