1 September 2003 - 2 August 2007
I joined Lit.org on Sept 1 2003, sort of on a lark. I'd followed some other people here, it looked like fun, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did.
Nothing else in my experience beat Lit for introducing me to interesting new writers, tempting me to explore new styles and genres, getting helpful feedback, and finding collaboration partners. I still think my collaboration with Lilia, "Therapy with Jim", is one of the funniest things I've ever been a part of (much of that is Lil's doing, not mine). Cracks me up to this day. But maybe I'm just sick that way.
To be honest, I don't really want to leave. It's been a long time coming, sure, for reasons you may or may not be able to guess. Plus, I'm doing a lot more publishing than I used to, and that's been taking up my time anyway. So I waddle off into the sunset for good reasons and bad.
Thanks so much to everyone who encouraged me, and everyone who contributed their art to the site while I was here. I can't possibly tell you how inspired I've been reading some of the fantastic work that people of all ages and perspectives and backgrounds have contributed. My crappy memory prevents me from mentioning everyone by name, but I'd especially like to thank Nae for inviting me to be a moderator. Hey, it didn't work out, but c'est la vie.
Keep writing! Maybe we'll meet up in a bookstore someday, sharing shelf space.
:)
