The Shadow of Precedence
For anyone who has followed the blog on my website, this will be old hat. For anyone who hasn't it will be new hat :) My mother was born on this day. I can't let the day pass without some kind of tribute. Since my words are the best tribute I can give her, other than the way I live my life ...read more
A Message from Lit.org Staff
As the year 2004 comes to a close, and 2005 looms on the horizon, the staff at Lit.org wants to collectively thank all the members, old and new, for their wonderful writing, their submissions, their comments, their reading, and especially their presence which makes Lit.org what it is.
As many of you read in the recent newsletter, Majestic, there are many innovations planned for 2005 which will make Lit even better than it already is.
In the face of the problems we have tackled and, hopefully overcome this year, the staff of Lit.org wants to thank everyone for their patience, their understanding, and their general acceptance of the rules, even when they may disagree with them.
We all love Lit.org or we wouldn't be here. It is the best place on the internet to publish, improve, refine, and share a love of writing with other writers.
The Lit.Org staff, from Crowe down, sends their best wishes to you for 2005.

Tomorrow's Tale
After a night of little to no sleep, as ya' do when your mind won't shut down, I finally dressed about 5:00 a.m., would have killed for the diet coke that taunted me from the fridge which was forbidden to me, and by 6:00 Monday morning was writing a really big check to a doctor about to operate on ...read more
A Fly on the Wall
A/N: This was inspired by Bartleby's comment about the shower on Jessica's poem "The Love Diet" :) I have permission. But I wasn't sure it wasn't a little fluffy for the front page...
The tile was cool, the people wet
And what I saw, I won't forget!
You see I'm the proverbial fly on the wall
That day I was trapped in the shower stall
Two people in there, if I'm not mistaken
And many liberties were being taken.
When she bent over to pick up the sponge
The taller behind her made quite a lunge,
Before I could blink there was serious movement
I found it quite nice, and quite an improvement
When I opened my eyes she was on her knees
What better times could be had than these?
When they were done with the moan and the grope
They made a quite a scene with the soap on a rope.
If I could be anything other than
I think I'd be that woman's man!
Enjoy! *grinning

Foodstuffs and Bodies
Ok, consider this a ranting blog. I am making a really concerted effort to be less controversial in my opinions. But with regard to foodstuffs, and sharing them with others....Jess and I happened to be discussing those particularly good foods that live in their best and highest potentials when devoured from the body of one's partner. If Crowe doesn't delete this, then I wish to address them....(Arc...stop here)
Chocolate....in any form a formidable and delicious thing. When partaken from the human body, it is extraordinary! In its melted form (which doesn't take much, it can be particularly pleasing)
Whipped Cream....a topping for many classic desserts which are no less praised here than your significant other (as dessert, that is) The possibilities are endless.
Juicy fruits....well, use your imagination.
Shots....something new to me, but which seems quite reasonable in the overall scheme of things...
I'm sure I am naive in this area...and will be happy to learn of more things...till we are quelled by the hand of the lit gods :) and it might be swift and sure. I might get fired. LOL....but I thought it an interesting question.

The Comment Hall of Fame
From time to time, I read a comment which is so good, or so funny, or has that "X" factor, that I think they should be memorialized. I wish I had thought of this 8 months ago, and I would have kept track. But the journey has to start with the first step.
I want everyone at Lit.Org to post comments they have or will read in the future which have particular appeal or otherwise, whether it be bad or good...of course most of the "offensive" ones will get the delete button, but even commenting is an artform...and given Peter's recent tips, while the ones here may not conform or exactly follow his sage advice, they are noteworthy for many reasons. I'm going to start this thread off with one that I found particularly funny, and I'm sure there are hundreds out there that you will find and contribute for whatever reason the comment may have grabbed you...
You do not need to attribute the comment, the maker or the thread unless you wish to do so...
Consider this the Ripleys of literary comments...:)
Here is my first contribution.....many will follow, I'm sure...:
For the Love of Pete
Dark, sinister, catacombs of my vain and foolish mortal heart...
come on now....If you want the UNWASHED ILLITERATE MASSES...
to read your dank and self indulgent reviews, you may want to knock off the "boofington, wisenheimer, Vincent Price act.
Sorry, I dont mean to "twist your pancreas, til the last ounce of bile lay like the dead sea , heavy laden with salt and acid on the cool cement basement floor on payday.
Peace

I Have a Dream
Using "I Have A Dream" is shameless attention getting which I fully admit for it was already used by a statesman who had a much bigger and more important dream for mankind than what I am going to talk about.
I have a recurring dream. The reason this is significant is multi-layered. ...read more
Your voice will never be louder!
I have often wondered, if a poll was taken of the world population, who the top five world "leaders" would be...the five men (or women, god bless us) who led countries or who had the most impact (for the good or the bad) on the state of the world...the human condition.
Since we don't have a "poll" category here, I ask in a blog, since it is the next most appropriate category.
What men or women among us (or in history) have made the most of the position of leadership, power, influence, or visibility by steering humanity toward the better or toward destruction? A very interesting question...and one most apropos, I think, with the passing of Ronald Reagan.
We have an international population here...I will watch with bated breath to see who the world thinks has made a difference.

In Defense of
I hope I am a reasonably educated woman. I also think I am somewhat sophisticated in the ways of the world. I have bowed in the face of criticism for loving certain "country music", and have taken the horse laughs with grace.
But I would make my argument, nonetheless. Those who are ...read more
Train Wrecks and Talent Shows
I have an announcement. I am a miserable, unprincipled person. For as much raving as I do about issues and quality, I have been right there (two weeks in a row ) watching “Showbiz Moms...and dads” on Bravo (one of my favorite channels). Train wrecks (figuratively and literally) are riveting for ...read more
POTUS and the Prince of Hamburgers
It was one of those days when the walls seemed to close in. A day when the opening of curtains was memorable not because to do so warmed the room, but instead, because the light was a magnifying glass of dust floating particle by particle in its rays. Surely a drive would clear the cobwebs and make ...read more
The Name Game
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" only applies to flowers and people. While the title of a story or poem can't affect the quality of the written word, it can make two significant differences in the reader's reaction to the piece.
The obvious benefit of a great title ...read more
What is a Ten?
Someone asked me a question today that I think merits a blog (I have already responded to them, but I thought perhaps this might be of value to others). Lit.org has new contributors every day. They range in level of experience and expertise over an almost infinite scale. I think ...read more
Spam Sparked Schizophrenia
The nature and character of a vastly disproportionate percentage of my email finally pushed my buttons. I used to look forward to opening mail to read the doin's of friends, comments or complaints on my website, writing other people sent me for suggestions or just delight, and even the occasional ...read more
A New York State of Mind
Another icy cold day. The ultimate deception, New York City is made warmer by cold, and colder by the heat. When icy cold blankets the city, when it is snowing or weeping other wintry tears, people seem to band together in their shivering. They spot taxis for one another, they smile in the mutual ...read more
