My name is Anne-Mieke, born and still living in the Netherlands, although I spent a short time of my life in California, working at a contemporary arts museum.
Though my first language is Dutch, I use the English language to write prose-poetry and short descriptive stories which I post to my own website called 'Under a bell' (see the link above). Using a language that is not my mother tongue works as catalyst for creativity: it creates a distance between me and the words, a distance that I need, odd as it may be, to write about very personal subjects. Perhaps, someday, I will switch back to Dutch again.
I am not a published writer and do not aspire to become one at least not within the next ten years. First I need to train my literary muscles some more and find a way to use my style for longer works.
