Born(1950), broughtup and educated in the ancient city of Varanasi, India, I have been a university professor, teaching English language skills to students of earth and mineral sciences at Indian School of Mines,Dhanbad, India for the last 31 years. Have published 32 books, including eleven collections of poems. THE RIVER RETURNS (2006)is my latest tanka and haiku collection. VOICES OF THE PRESENT: CRITICAL ESSAYS ON SOME INDIAN ENGLISH POETS (2006) is my latest book of criticism, promoting several less or new Indian poets writing in English.
A book on MY poetry, NEW INDIAN ENGLISH POETRY: AN ALTERNATIVE VOICE edited by I.K. Sharma appeared in August 2004 from Jaipur. It contains over twenty critical essays, six interviews and about 20 reviews/comments. THE RIVER RETURNS (2006) is my latest tanka and haiku collection.
